Youth Council


The Youth Council is responsible for advocating for youth services and programs in the community.
Their responsibilities revolve in the following three areas:

Development of youth leaders in the community
• Recruitment of Junior High, High School and young adults from the community.
• Develop and provide orientation for members of the council.
• Provide training and leadership opportunities for members of the council.

Advocacy for youth services in the community
• Develop a matrix of youth services and programs available in the community.
• Survey youth and the community to assess youth service and program needs.
• Establish partnerships and collaborations to meet youth service and program needs.

• Provide presentations and informational forums for the community, service clubs and public councils and boards.

Assisting with development of youth services and programs
• Conduct focus groups to gain feedback for project components.
• Research for statistics and facts to help with establishing needs for grant
development for youth programs.

          • Develop volunteer opportunities for youth and provide training for volunteers.
• Assist Executive Director with oversight of youth services and programs.

Current Activities -

• Pennies War at Hughson High School for 2008 Christmas Basket Project raised over $1200.00.

• Collaborated with the Friends of the Library for Dr. Seuss Birthday Literacy Night.

• Sponsored a 2009 summer reading event to involve children in weekly literacy workshop to write their own book.
